What are Opera Invasions?
A series of operatic events taking place throughout the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution—Opera Invasions will provide a unique, playful, and inspiring initiation into opera for people of all generations and backgrounds.
Opera Open Book
June 25 • Odland Plaza • 6:30 p.m.
You choose the concert! Three singers bring their audition books, but it is the audience who selects what they hear next!
Opera on Wheels
July 5 • 6 p.m.
Opera jumps into golf carts and goes truly mobile. The arias might be fast, but the drivers will obey all speed limits as opera takes to the Chautauqua streets. Route maps and details will be posted in Week 1 so you can be sure to see opera zip by!
So You Think You’re Louder Than An Opera Singer?
July 14 • College Hill Park • 3:30 p.m.
A perennial Opera Invasion favorite, this competition is now open to all ages! Come and learn famous phrases from Tosca, and then compete against Chautauqua Opera Company artists and special surprise guests.
August 4 • 6:30 p.m.
Singers from the unified Chautauqua Opera Company & Conservatory come together for a Grand Finale which is bigger and louder than ever. Route maps and details will be posted in Week Six.
