DESCRIPTION:Closing a week of conversations and presentations about finding one’s passions\, seizing opportunities and\, ultimately\, changing the world\, Kwame Alexander welcomes award-winning songwriter\, composer\, vocalist and actor Christopher Jackson to the Amphitheater stage.  Jackson rose to fame portraying George Washington in Hamilton\, and together the poet and the president will discuss Jackson’s personal journey — and the journey of America — through the soundtrack of our country.  \nChristopher Jackson is a Tony Award nominated actor\, as well as a Grammy and Emmy Award-winning songwriter/composer best known for starring as George Washington in the critically acclaimed\, award-winning musical Hamilton on Broadway and Disney+. Jackson starred in the hit CBS drama “Bull\,” which ran for six seasons\, and he can now be seen on HBO Max’s series “And Just Like That …”  \nIn early 2021\, Jackson starred in Freestyle Love Supreme on Broadway alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda. Additionally\, he starred in Ava DuVernay’s Netflix mini-series\, “When They See Us.” In December 2018\, “One Last Time (44 Remix)” was released as a part of the Hamildrop series which featured Jackson alongside President Barack Obama and BeBe Winans. His Broadway credits include Holler if Ya Hear Me\, After Midnight\, The Bronx Bombers\, In the Heights\, Memphis and The Lion King (Simba). Off Broadway credits include Bronx Bombers (Primary Stages); The Jammer (Atlantic Theater Co.); Lonely\, I’m Not (Second Stage); In the Heights (37 Arts)\, and Cotton Club Parade (ENCORES at City Center).  \nAdditional TV and film credits include “Freestyle Love Supreme\,” “Person of Interest\,” “A Gifted Man\,” “Fringe\,” “Gossip Girl\,” “Tracers\,” “Afterlife” and the 2021 film adaptation of “In the Heights.” Jackson voiced “Where You Are” for the Disney film “Moana\,” and served as composer/songwriter for “Sesame Street” (garnering seven Emmy nominations and one win)\, and co-music supervisor and writer for “The Electric Company” (PBS). Jackson won an Emmy Award for his song with Will.I.Am\, “What I Am\,” and he’ll release his second studio album later this year.   \nJackson has performed sold-out concerts all over the United States\, including Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center\, and a command performance at the White House in 2023.  \nKwame Alexander is a poet\, educator\, producer and No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of 40 books\, including Why Fathers Cry at Night\, An American Story\, The Door of No Return\, Becoming Muhammad Ali (co-authored with James Patterson)\, Rebound\, which was shortlisted for the prestigious UK Carnegie Medal\, and The Undefeated — the National Book Award nominee\, Newbery Honor\, and Caldecott Medal-winning picture book illustrated by Kadir Nelson.   \nThe Michael I. Rudell Artistic Director of Literary Arts and Inaugural Writer-in-Residence at Chautauqua Institution\, Alexander is the recipient of numerous awards\, including The Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award\, The Coretta Scott King Author Honor\, three NAACP Image Award nominations and the 2017 Inaugural Pat Conroy Legacy Award. In 2018\, he opened the Barbara E. Alexander Memorial Library and Health Clinic in Ghana\, as a part of LEAP for Ghana\, an international literacy program he co-founded. DESCRIPTION:Sister Teresa Maya is a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word\, San Antonio. She has served as teacher\, history professor\, administrator\, leader\, facilitator and speaker. She is passionate about forming ministers committed to transforming Church and society . She believes in life-long learning and has a strong conviction in the future of consecrated life.  \nSister Teresa got her B.A. at Yale University\, her M.A. at the Graduate Theological Union at Berkeley and the Ph.D. in El Colegio de Mexico in Mexico City. She served fourteen years in the leadership of her religious institute and on the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) presidency from 2016-19. She accompanies other religious congregations as facilitator and consultant.  \nShe is currently serving as Senior Director for Theology and Sponsorship in the Catholic Health Association (USA).

DESCRIPTION:: Kainat Felicia Norton and Muinuddin Charles Smith are senior Sufi teachers\, retreat guides\, and interfaith ministers within the Inayati Sufi Order. Together they founded and facilitate the Light of Guidance Center for Sufi Studies in New York City. Charles teaches leadership and sustainability studies at Hofstra University and Felicia teaches at the United Nations International School. They are married and live in New York City. Felicia has been touring the solo dance/theatre piece ‘NOOR’\, depicting the life of Noor Inayat Khan\, Sufi WW2 heroine\, in London\, Edinburgh\, UK\, France\, and NYC. Together Felicia and Charles co-authored the book\, ‘An Emerald Earth–Cultivating a Natural Spirituality and Serving Creative Beauty in Our World.’  Their book offers basic practices\, poetry\, and wisdom teachings from the Sufi tradition with the theme of joining inner cultivation and sacred ecology. They travel and offer retreats and workshops throughout the US\, Canada\, Asia\, and Europe.

Rudell Artistic Director of Literary Arts and Writer in Residence. \nCharly Palmer is a renowned award-winning fine artist and illustrator known for his compelling artwork that reflects African ancestry and contemporary experiences. Through his paintings\, Palmer creates rhythmic visual narratives that challenge viewers’ perceptions. His innate ability to capture the nuances of Blackness is expressed through rich depth\, intricate patterns\, symbols\, and textures. Notable achievements include designing the Black Heritage Stamp honoring Judge Constance Baker Motley\, creating the album cover for John Legend’s “Bigger Love\,” and illustrating the cover for TIME Magazine’s “America Must Change.” He also co-authored the award-winning “New Brownies Book: A Love Letter To Black Families.”
