A Smarter Way to Park: Introducing CI Access at Chautauqua
This season, Chautauqua Institution is launching a new parking system designed to provide a more efficient and user-friendly experience. CI Access is powered by SKIDATA, a leading provider of digital parking technology. With this upgrade, all parking areas are now fully secured and operational 24 hours a day, requiring all users to scan in and out each time they enter or exit.
The most important change is the requirement that all vehicles must scan their parking pass when upon entering and exiting. If a user fails to scan out, they will not be able to scan back in. This change ensures better tracking and fairness in how passes are used. Each pass is tied to a single user, and the system will not allow multiple entries on the same pass without an exit.
In the past, access was limited to one lane. With the CI Access system, visitors can now use any available lane, 24 hours a day, for entry or exit. This should help reduce congestion and improve traffic flow during busy times.
This system upgrade also means concert and special event parking has also been streamlined. For popular events on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the summer season, visitors can pre-pay for parking at a reduced rate of $15 and simply scan their ticket for entry. If they choose to pay the day of the event, the cost is $20 to park upon entry with a credit card.
It is also important to note that CI Access is a fully digital system. All payments must be made by credit card. If you overstay your designated parking time, you will be charged an additional hourly rate, also payable by card only. Cash will not be accepted at any point in this process.
Despite these technological upgrades, on-site staff support remains a priority. There has been no change in staffing levels, and the gate hut will continue to be staffed. A team member will be available to assist you if you have any issues with scanning, payment or general questions.
The new system includes visual indicators to guide you through the process. A red light means stop and wait. A green light means you may proceed. These signals are in place to help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.
CI Access represents a significant step forward in how we manage parking at Chautauqua. By increasing security, reducing wait times, and improving the user experience, we’re creating a better environment for everyone.
If you have any questions or encounter any issues with the system, please contact the Ticket Office at ticketoffice@chq.org or call 1-716-357-6250.
We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to a successful season ahead.
