May 20, 2026: Bell Tower Update
The Bell Tower is currently not functioning due to an electrical issue. Our team is actively working to resolve the problem, and we expect the bells to be back up and operating as soon as possible.
We appreciate your patience and understanding while this is addressed.
May 13, 2026: Waterfront Dock Installation
We would like to inform you that as of April 30, Chautauqua Institution’s dock installer notified us that for logistical reasons they will not be able to install the public docks, originally scheduled for completion this month and into the beginning of June. Due to this notification and weather-related challenges, there may be delays.
Our team is actively working to resolve these issues and minimize disruption. We understand the importance of these docks for recreation and access, and we appreciate your patience as we ensure the project is completed safely and to a high standard.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
May 2026: Notification of Road Closures and Roadwork
Chautauqua Institution will begin our annual road reconstruction work starting on Monday, May 8, depending upon the weather. Please make alternative plans for access. The current plan for work and closures is as follows, but will vary slightly due to weather and progress variations:
May 11: Morris Avenue will be under a complete closure and will only be accessible for emergencies. This work will continue throughout the entire week, but some access may be possible later in the week.
Later in the week of May 11: Ramble Avenue behind the Colonnade, with some parking spaces being disrupted behind the Colonnade for a few days.
Week of May 18: Pratt Avenue from Hurst to Root will be closed for up to two weeks.
May 21: Turner entrance gate area on Foss Ave will likely be affected for approximately three days.
May 26: Main Gate exit tunnels will be closed and should reopen in 2–3 days. Main Gate entrance will become two-way traffic separated by cones. The bus gate will be open during the day as a second means of entry and exit.
Week of June 1: South Avenue from Massey Avenue to the gate hut will be impacted.
We will also be continuing throughout the pre-season with various road repairs and patches that should not require complete road closures, but please be aware and use caution as you approach these areas.
Please note that these dates will likely change due to weather and construction complexities. We will try to keep you informed if significant variations occur. Thank you for your patience!
