Chautauqua Institution welcomes three new members to its Board of Trustees: Sarah Rosen, Kurt Miller and Christopher B. Nance. Each brings a unique perspective shaped by professional accomplishment and a longstanding connection to Chautauqua. As trustees, they will help steward the Institution’s mission and support its work for future generations.
The Institution is fortunate to benefit from a tradition of engaged volunteer leadership, and we look forward to the contributions these new trustees will make in the years ahead.
Sarah Rosen
A lifelong advocate for non-profit organizations and philanthropy, Sarah Rosen has built a distinguished 30-year career in development and currently serves as managing director of Women@NJPAC at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Throughout her career, she has held leadership positions with numerous nonprofit organizations, including service on the Duke Alumni Association Board of Trustees and the Duke NY Board of Trustees.
Rosen’s connection to Chautauqua spans nearly five decades. A graduate of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle, she currently serves on the board of the Chautauqua Bird, Tree & Garden Club and spends each summer on the grounds with her husband, Dave, and their family.
Kurt Miller
Kurt Miller has more than 30 years of leadership experience in hospitality, restaurant operations and facilities development. A founding partner of the Austin Grill restaurant group, he helped grow the company across the mid-Atlantic region before joining Marriott Corporation, where he oversaw hotel renovation programs and brand initiatives.
A lifelong Chautauquan and Institution property owner, Miller has remained actively involved in the community through volunteer service and board leadership. He currently serves as treasurer of the Chautauqua Yacht Club and has held leadership roles with both the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington and the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture. His professional expertise and longstanding dedication to Chautauqua make him a valuable addition to the board.
Christopher B. Nance
Christopher B. Nance has built a diverse career across the public, private and nonprofit sectors, with a particular focus on civic engagement, economic opportunity and community development. He currently serves as vice president of construction at the Greater Cleveland Partnership, Ohio’s largest chamber of commerce, where he works to connect underrepresented individuals with job and business opportunities across a range of industries.
Nance previously served as deputy district director for Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones and as assistant secretary of state for Ohio’s secretary of state. A native of Cleveland, he holds degrees from Boston College and Cleveland State University, as well as a Civic Engagement and Moral Leadership Fellowship from St. Mary’s Ecumenical Institute. His broad leadership experience and commitment to public service will strengthen the board’s efforts to advance Chautauqua’s mission.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to Nancy Gibbs, Richard Osborne and Larry Thompson, whose terms recently concluded.
Through their thoughtful guidance and service, they have helped advance the Institution’s mission during a period of significant opportunity and change. We thank them for their dedication to Chautauqua and the many ways they have contributed to its success.
