Westfield Memorial Hospital: A Trusted Health Care Partner Close to Home

When it comes to caring for the health and well-being of the Chautauqua Institution community, having trusted medical partners close by makes all the difference. Just 15 minutes north of campus, Westfield Memorial Hospital plays a vital role in supporting residents, staff, visitors, and neighbors throughout northern Chautauqua County.

Westfield Memorial Hospital is a designated Rural Emergency Hospital (REH), a small but essential facility equipped to respond to everything from urgent medical and traumatic emergencies to routine preventive care. For members of the Chautauqua Institution community, the hospital provides a critical safety net, ensuring high-quality care is available when it’s needed most.

More Than Emergency Care

Although emergency services are at the heart of Westfield Memorial Hospital’s mission, the hospital also offers a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive services. The care team is skilled in identifying medical needs, stabilizing and triaging patients to tertiary specialists when appropriate and providing ongoing support as part of a patient’s long-term care journey.

Services Available on the Hospital Campus

Westfield Memorial Hospital offers the following services year-round:

  • 24/7 Emergency Department
  • Radiology Services, including:
    • Plain X-ray
    • CT scans
    • Fluoroscopy
    • Mammography
    • Bone density scanning
    • Ultrasound
  • Mobile MRI services (new as of January 2026)
  • Laboratory Services
  • Limited Infusion Center (Monday–Friday; no chemotherapy)
  • Endoscopy Center (colonoscopy and upper GI procedures)

  • Wound Care Clinic
  • Physical Therapy
  • Lymphedema Therapy

Together, these services help ensure timely diagnoses, continuity of care and access to essential treatments without needing to travel far from Chautauqua.

Onsite Clinic Support During the Summer Season

During the summer season, Westfield Memorial Hospital also operates an onsite clinic at Chautauqua Institution, expanding access to care right on the grounds. The clinic supports a wide range of needs — from minor injuries and illnesses to scheduled visits — helping community members receive care quickly and conveniently.

Summer Clinic Details:

  • Dates: June 29–Aug. 28
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • Providers: This year, clinicians will be available to see children ages one and up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Appointments: Call 716-347-3209 to schedule

A Community-Centered Commitment

Westfield Memorial Hospital remains deeply committed to the health of the Chautauqua Institution community — both during the bustling summer season and throughout the year. Whether responding in an emergency, offering preventive screenings or providing onsite care just steps away, the hospital serves as a reliable partner dedicated to compassion, professionalism and continuity of care.

Knowing that expert medical support is so close allows our community to focus on learning, creating, gathering and belonging, with confidence and peace of mind.
