Westfield Memorial Hospital is a designated Rural Emergency Hospital (REH), a small but essential facility equipped to respond to everything from urgent medical and traumatic emergencies to routine preventive care. For members of the Chautauqua Institution community, the hospital provides a critical safety net, ensuring high-quality care is available when it’s needed most.
More Than Emergency Care
Although emergency services are at the heart of Westfield Memorial Hospital’s mission, the hospital also offers a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive services. The care team is skilled in identifying medical needs, stabilizing and triaging patients to tertiary specialists when appropriate and providing ongoing support as part of a patient’s long-term care journey.

Westfield Memorial Hospital offers the following services year-round:
- 24/7 Emergency Department
- Radiology Services, including:
- Plain X-ray
- CT scans
- Fluoroscopy
- Mammography
- Bone density scanning
- Ultrasound
- Mobile MRI services (new as of January 2026)
- Laboratory Services
- Limited Infusion Center (Monday–Friday; no chemotherapy)
- Endoscopy Center (colonoscopy and upper GI procedures)
- Nuclear Stress Testing
- Echocardiography
- Wound Care Clinic
- Physical Therapy
- Lymphedema Therapy
Together, these services help ensure timely diagnoses, continuity of care and access to essential treatments without needing to travel far from Chautauqua.
Onsite Clinic Support During the Summer Season
During the summer season, Westfield Memorial Hospital also operates an onsite clinic at Chautauqua Institution, expanding access to care right on the grounds. The clinic supports a wide range of needs — from minor injuries and illnesses to scheduled visits — helping community members receive care quickly and conveniently.
Summer Clinic Details:
- Dates: June 29–Aug. 28
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- Providers: This year, clinicians will be available to see children ages one and up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
