Chautauqua Institution today announced that Jade King Carroll will be the next producing artistic director of its resident Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC) following an extensive national search. CHAUTAUQUA, NY — The Chautauqua Opera Company and Conservatory, the resident opera company and conservatory of Chautauqua Institution, today announced the first season of its newly unified program under the leadership of General and Artistic Director Steven Osgood and Conservatory Director Marlena Malas. The company and former Chautauqua Voice Program unified in fall 2021. The call I received was from Chautauqua Institution and the artistic directors for the Institution’s resident opera and theater companies. Both companies were unsure how the various COVID restrictions were going to affect their impending summer seasons, but they both knew that they had to perform outdoors for COVID compliance. After many discussions with the administrative team for the Institution, an outdoor space was chosen for the temporary venue, and I was asked to design the sound system.
