Christopher Wakefield
Christopher (Chris) Wakefield is the instrumental music teacher at Clymer Central Schoolas well as an adjunct faculty member at Jamestown Community College where he directs the Concert Band and teaches applied music lessons. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Northeastern Illinois University where he studied trombone with Art Linsner, was a member of the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. R. Shayne Cofer, and played in the Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Mayo Tiana.
As a performer in Chicago, Mr. Wakefield was Principal trombone for several years with the Classical Symphony Orchestra under Joseph Glymph, and performed with jazz artists such as Rob Parton, Mark Colby, Tom Garling, Luis Bonilla, and Wycliffe Gordon. Since moving back to Chautauqua County in 2015 he has served as low brass coach for the Chautauqua Music Camps, performed with the Dave Golando Big Band, Chautauqua Big Band Swing, the Jamestown Area Community Orchestra, and directed the pit orchestra for many of the “Uncommoners” productions at JCC. He is also the current president of the Chautauqua county Music Teachers Association (CCMTA).
