CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. (JULY 30, 2013)— Week Seven at Chautauqua Institution is filled with entertaining acts for everyone.

The Susquehanna Chorale kicks off the week on Aug. 4, at 2:30 p.m. for a free Sunday performance in the Amphitheater.

The 35-voice chamber choir is recognized and has been honored nationally for the quality of its musical diversity. The Chorale will also perform in the Sacred Song Service at 8 p.m. Sundays are always free at CHQ, and parking fees apply only after 1:30 p.m.

On Monday, Timothy Muffitt will conduct a performance by the Music School Festival Orchestra, featuring the Chautauqua Voice Program, which is directed by Marlena Malas. The performance will be in the Amphitheater at 8:15 p.m.

Jeremy Davis and The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra: Mostly Mercer, Live from Savannah, GA (A Tribute to the Music of Johnny Mercer) will perform in the Amphitheater on Wed., Aug. 7 at 8:15 p.m. Paying tribute to Johnny Mercer’s impact on the Great American Song Book and American popular music, the 17-piece big band brings the look, the sound and the class of the best of American jazz to the Amphitheater.

Guest conductor Maximiano Valdés will lead the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra (CSO), with CSO principal flute Richard Sherman, on Thurs., Aug. 8, at 8:15 p.m. in the Amphitheater.

The Beach Boys will perform in the Amphitheater on Fri., Aug. 9 at 8:15 p.m.

The band’s classic songs epitomize the spirit of the California lifestyle of the 1960’s. The Beach Boys have become an American icon to a worldwide audience. “Surfin’ USA” (1961) was the band’s first hit, which launched a string of chart-topping songs that spans over 40 years and includes eternal anthems of American youth: “Surfer Girl,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “Barbara Ann,” “Good Vibrations,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “Rock and Roll Music,” “Kokomo” and more. This is an evening for all generations to enjoy.

The week ends on Saturday, Aug. 10, with the North Carolina Dance Theatre in Residence, directed by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, performing with CSO, which will be led by guest conductor Grant Cooper at 8:15 p.m. in the Amphitheater.

Tickets for Amphitheater performances are $40. On Community Appreciation Nights, ticket prices are reduced to $20 and Tuesday evening Family Entertainment Series performances are always free.
