Wade joined Chautauqua Institution in October 2022 as the director of organizational safety & security. The primary duties of this role include the strategic planning and implementation of Safety and Security Policies and Procedures. His philosophy to execute these duties covers an all-hazards approach to incident management that is consistent with our values and enhances the experience all staff and members of our community.
Prior to joining Chautauqua, Wade spent his entire professional life dedicated to public service. He is a retired police sergeant from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. After law enforcement, he spent several years working in emergency management, including time in Pennsylvania, Florida, California and the Washington, D.C. area. Wade is also a former captain in the U.S. Army where he served as a logistics officer and signal officer. His military experience includes a combat tour in Iraq from 2003-2004. Wade has a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and a master’s degree in political science from Lehigh University.
Wade chose to work at Chautauqua because its mission and values were consistent with his, and the opportunity for his young daughters to have exposure to that was critical.
