For over 130 years, the Chautauqua Institution has provided opportunities to enrich the mind, body and spirit. Chautauqua Health & Fitness continues the tradition. We are dedicated to helping you succeed, whatever your health and fitness goals: weight loss, increased flexibility, sports training, muscle toning, medical rehab, stress reduction, or general fitness and conditioning.

Our supportive staff will help evaluate your fitness level, suggest an appropriate exercise program, and keep you motivated. We’ll also strive to be a valuable community resource on current health and fitness issues.

Purchase Memberships & Passes

Complimentary pool use is included in all fitness center memberships and passes. Fitness Center members must be 14 years of age or older and Pool members must be 12 years of age or older.

Family Memberships: Includes up to two adults and their dependent children through full-time college students up to age 23, living in the same household. Due to COVID restrictions, access to fitness center is limited to ages 14 and up. Click here for pool-specific youth policies. Visiting family members are not included in family memberships.

Debit Card Holders

If you possess a 10-visit prepaid debit card that was purchased prior to March 16, 2020 with remaining unused visits, please call the fitness desk at 716-357-6430 to discuss your options.

Individual Fitness Center Debit Card: $100 for 10 prepaid single visits. Expires 1 year from date of issue. Cannot be used for group exercise classes. 

Individual Pool Debit Card: $50 for 10 prepaid single visits. Expires 1 year from date of issue. Cannot be used for group classes.

Personal Trainers 

Julie Monaco 
NESTA Certified Personal Trainer. Uses a variety of techniques and exercises. Available by appointment only throughout the year.  

Stephanie Bukowski 
FiTour Certified Personal Trainer, Core & Functional Fitness and Kickboxing Instructor. Available by appointment only throughout the year. 

Drew Hudson 
Board certified Athletic Trainer and NSCA Certified Personal Trainer. Specializes in sport-specific training and everyday functional fitness. Available by appointment only throughout the year. 

Jackie Ollinger 
500 hr. RYT with an extensive background in integral yoga and stress management. Available by appointment only throughout the year.  

Nancy Vigliotti 
ACE certified personal trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. Specializes in strength, conditioning, endurance and agility training.

Nate Hammond
Recent graduate of SUNY Brockport with a degree in Sports Management, and is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. Very passionate about fitness and enjoys helping others strive and achieve their goals. 

Logan Studley
Senior at SUNY Brockport studying Exercise Science with a concentration in Health Promotion. Working as the Fitness Center Intern here this summer. Enjoys exercise, spending time with her family and outdoor activities.

Pilates Reformer Trainers 

Jennifer Nelsen
Experienced Pilates Instructor, PMA-CPT. Has worked post-surgery rehab to Olympic hopefuls. Holds certificate in Pilates for Breast Cancer. Available by appointment only mid May to early October.

Hee Ra Yoo
Experienced Pilates Instructor. Blends classical and contemporary Pilates techniques for unique and effective exercise programs. Available by appointment only June 25 through August 6, 2022.

Terril Teran Mire
Experienced Pilates Instructor. Graduate of Balanced Body’s University Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training program and a Nationally Certified Pilates Instructor. Yoga Alliance registered Yoga teacher RYT200 and an American Bone Health Peer Educator. Available by appointment only June 18 through August 28, 2022.

Private Swim Instructor 

(Coach) Bill Rollinger 
Experienced Swim Instructor. Specializes in all facets of swimming, stroke technique and competitive strokes for all levels. 

Karen Williams
Experienced swim instructor and competitive swimmer (USMS, AMYMSA Swim leagues).  USMS Level 2 Certified Coach.  Available by appointment only throughout the year.

Roy Newman
Currently a lifeguard at Chautauqua Health & Fitness and recently completed training as an Adult Learn to Swim Certified instructor. Served as a Varsity swim coach at Mayville Central School.

Karen H. Suber
Experienced swim instructor and a member of the US Masters Swimming association. Dedicated to making swimming a fun and comfortable experience for everyone.

Recommended equipment for swim lessons:

Policies 

Interest Form: Complete an interest form at the Fitness Center desk. Appointments are based on availability of our staff.  

Paperwork & Signing In: Clients must complete a Waiver & Release of Liability and PAR-Q form before their first session and sign in at the Fitness Center desk at each session.  

Session Purchases: Payment must be made in full before first session. You cannot increase your package size once you have begun your original package; new packages must be purchased. Maximum of 20 sessions purchased at once. Purchased sessions must be completed within one year of the purchase date. Sessions not used after one year of purchase may no longer be redeemed.  

Duet/Pairs Sessions: Two clients can share their time with one instructor only if they are both at the same skill level and available at the same time. Clients at different skill levels must attend sessions at separate times at single rate each. Skill level is determined by the instructor or trainer.  

Cancellation Policy: 12 hours’ notice must be given for any cancellations by client or trainer. Clients who do not show up, or give less than 12 hours’ notice, will still be charged for the session.  

Transfer of Sessions: You may transfer your unused sessions to another person.  

Appointment Times & Locations: Because our instructors and trainers often schedule consecutive appointments, sessions must begin and end on time. If the client is late, the session will not be extended beyond the scheduled time. Sessions are to be conducted in/on Turner Community Center facilities and property.

Water Exercise
Strengthen, tone and improve cardiovascular wellness in a joint-friendly environment. No swimming skills necessary.

Pilates Mat Class
This class is a combination of intermediate mat work and functional core stabilization.

Gentle Yoga
This gentle hatha class is for all levels of experience. Jackie will guide you through postures that will stretch, energize and relax the body. Come and find balance in body, breath and mind.

Spin with the Dr. of Spin
A high-intensity, low-impact workout designed to enhance cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength. Please plan to bring your own water bottle.

Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a gentle and mindful movement practiced with intention and focus that helps to bring balance and restore energy in the body. Jackie will lead you step by step into this ancient, slow-moving practice.

Cardio Dance
Cardio dance fuses musical rhythms and choreographed dance moves together to create a dynamic workout that’s designed for fun-and a great work out!  No prior dance experience required; space is limited.
