The Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Rossen Milanov, Music Director, announces auditions for the following vacancies:

Bassoon 2 
Section Cello 
Asst Principal Bass 
Section Bass

The deadline for submitting recordings is March 15, 2026. 

The live auditions will take place at Chautauqua, NY on the following dates: 

July 19, 2026 – Section Cello
August 2, 2026 – Bassoon 2
August 16, 2026 – Assistant Principal/Section Bass

Founded in 1929, the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra is the professional orchestra of the Chautauqua Institution, a haven for the arts, literature, philosophy, recreation and religious studies located on beautiful Chautauqua Lake in Western NY State.  

The 2025 base pay rate was $10,920 plus a $7,200 Professional Maintenance Allowance, travel reimbursement, AFM pension and additional benefits.
